Kahurangi Estate is a New Zealand family owned boutique vineyard specialising in hand-made wines. The vineyard was first established in the early 1970’s and has some of the oldest commercial vines in the South Island. The Day family purchased the vineyard in 1998 and changed the name to Kahurangi Estate.

We welcome a new varietal into our family of wines, our very first Dolcetto!
Picked from a single vineyard in the Waimea Plains with intensive crop management. Initial fermentation in open fermenters with hand plunging every day for 4 weeks then placed into old oak barrels for maturation giving this wine lovely bright red hues, complimented with a fragrant aroma and a palate of rich cassis and raspberry with a delicate, dry structure on the finish.

At the 32nd Annual Sydney International Wine Competition, our 2011 Syrah has been awarded a Blue-Gold Medal and is amongst the Top 100 wines in its catagory.
Fantastic results to add to the Silver Medals and 4 stars it has already received! You can only purchase this wine at our Cellar Door now as we have limited amount of stock left of this award winning wine.
We have received a record haul of medals for our Kahurangi Estate wines combined with our International Selection of wines, ports and sherries. We collected 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 11 Bronze Medals. At the Awards Dinner held on the 29 September 2012 two Trophies were awarded to our imported wines, one Trophy for Tyrrell's Belford Semillon 2004 in the Champion Other White section and the other Trophy to Williams & Humbert Don Guido 20 Y.O. Pedro Ximinez in the Champion Fortified Wine Section.
We were awarded a Gold Medal for our 2011 Mt Arthur Chardonnay, a Silver Medal was awarded to our Syrah 2011 and 2 Bronze Medals were awarded to our Montepulciano 2011 and Pinot Gris 2011.
Krohn Ports received 3 Gold and 1 Bronze Medals, Tyrrell's Wines received 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals. WIlliams & Humbert Sherries received 1 Gold and 1 Bronze Medal, Mouton Cadet received 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals and 3 of our European wines from the Boutinot wine company received 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.
For 2014 we will be once again holding the Long Lunch over two days in March. Our dates will be confirmed later on this year along with our Guest Chef for this grand occassion.
