Melness is a beautiful coastal village in the remote Scottish Highlands characterised by passion, determination, creativity and a resonant relationship with the landscape. This unique character combined with our innovation to produce award winning New Zealand wine that communicates with your senses in subtle and powerful ways.
Melness Wines was established in Cust, North Canterbury by Norma & Colin Marshall and along with their own grape varieties sourced a range of grapes from Canterbury vineyards as far south as Burnham, up to Waipara and Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough. After many years of producing award winning wines, the Marshall’s decided to retire from the vineyard and sold their business to Kahurangi Estate. Kahurangi Estate has retained the essence and style of the Melness brand continuing with former Melness contract grape growers and incorporating some niche micro-climates from vineyards in the Canterbury wine region which enables us to present to you wines of distinction and style.
