Winemaker's Notes
Vineyard - Selected vineyards in the Moutere region of Nelson
Soil - A mix of Moutere Clay and Stony Alluvial.
Vintage Conditions - A hot Summer provided the base for an early vintage. Rain just prior to harvest slowed ripening down somewhat but good fruit flavours developed in the picked fruit.
Harvest Date - April 2017
Fermentation/maturation - Hand plunged in open fermenters then aged in French oak for 8 months
Alcohol - 13.0%
Residual Sugar - 3 g/L
Acid - 5.8g/L
Tasting Notes / General Comments - Great depth of colour for our 2017 Pinot Noir, followed with a full palate of cherry and chocolate with great length on the finish.
Hue - Clear ruby - violet
Nose - Red cherry, raspberries and violets
Palate - Black cherry and spice smooth tannins
Length - Smooth and fruit driven.
Cellar - A young, easy drinking Pinot Noir cellar for 3 years
Serving Suggestions - Perfect with spring lamb, hot smoked salmon or duck salad.
