Winemakers Notes

The Folle Blanche is the original grape variety of cognac, which disappeared in 1870 due to Phylloxera, the grape vine pest that plagued Europe and in particular France, for most of the 19th century. Today, only 300 hectares remain on a 84,000 hectare vineyard of Cognac.

The Folle Blanche cognacs have a very low acid virtue, which give them a smoothness even when young.

Today Cognac Godet is one of the rare cognac makers who work with farmers to replant this virtuous cognac and restore it to life again.
