Category - Vintage Port (single year Port from an exceptional harvest)

Wine Region- Douro Demarcated Wine Region, this Vintage Port was made from grapes grown on Wiese & Krohn's Quinta do Retiro Nova (single vineyard), which is situated int he Upper Corgo subregion of the Rio Torto Valley

Soil - Schistous

Alcohol - 20% Vol.

Total Acid -4.15 g/L.

Fixed Acid - 3.89 g/L.

Residual Sugar - 95.5 g/L.

Aging - In  "lagares" – old open tanks made of granite where the grapes are still trodden by feet. Fermentation was interrupted through the addition of grape brandy in order to preserve a certain degree of natural sweetness. Aged in Wiese  & Krohn's cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the Atlantic coast, under the control of the Douro and Port Wine Institute. Bottled in May 2006, with out being fined or filtered.

Grape Varieties - The traditional varieties of the Douro Region for red Ports, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz.

Tasting Note - Very deep red colour. Fruity, fine aroma of youth. Full-bodied and well balanced and lengthy finish. Drinkable now but will improve with age up to 20- 30 years.

How to enjoy - Moderate room temperature. Combine this Vintage with Steak au Poivre or take it after meal with cheese, tarts, pies, cakes and berries.
